The Starter supports the Operations Supervisor in supervising daily operations including but not limited to: Operator deployment, and operator supervision, effective communication with internal and external customers. Equipment inventory and management, managing the operations in the absence of the Operations Supervisor, comply with all company policies outlined in Transdev's Operating Rules and Procedures.

The Starter staff reports directly to the Operations Supervisor in fulfilling the day-to-day responsibilities.
The Starter is responsible for getting the service on the road each day. This involves being informed about the condition of the entire operation at all times. More specifically, the Starter must perform the following duties:
Specific Job Responsibilities
Open the operating facility
Prepare the daily Operator assignment sheet
Assign vehicles to runs
Communicate the readiness of service to the MCC Supervisor
Check in operators
Assign extra board Operators as required
Observe an Operator’s fitness for duty
Interact with maintenance department
Document the day’s service activities
Document radio transmissions
Advise and counsel operators
Update communications boards
Serves as operations support overseeing the operation as assigned, which may include alternating weekends.
Ensures the on-time deployment and return of operators including:
Run scheduling functions
Issuance and collection of all equipment including vehicle keys, Nextel radios and paper manifests.
Responsible for minimizing service interruptions and ensuring that service is “on-time, as advertised” to the maximum extent feasible.
Monitors operator absence and tardiness. Advises Operations Supervisor of individual situations that require further attention.
Is available at the dispatch counter after routes to assist operators with questions or problems. Advises the Ops. Supervisor with operator’s area of concern.
Manages dispatch functions to ensure proper utilization of vehicles and rapid response to on-road driver or vehicle problems.
Ensures completion of daily log book. Reviews and initials Daily Log Book from prior shift and follows up on issues reported in log as it pertains to shift concerns.
Reviews manifests for proper completion of mileage, times and fare collection.
Issues vouchers in exchange for fare tickets and ensures the accuracy of fares collected on manifest, the amount owed, and expiration date of voucher.
Ability to multitask and to be flexible. Ability to work independently, quick learner and a self starter.
Some knowledge of Trapeze Software. Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
The Starter shall dress professionally with the highest regard to customer service and professionalism.
Performs any other management requests or directives as they relate to the overall function of Transdev.
High school diploma or equivalent such as a GED required.
1-2 years of dispatching and/or customer service experience preferred.
