Window Dispatcher/Starter

OVERVIEW:

Starting Wage: $18.12

Window Dispatchers/Starters shall provide direction and maintain communication through MOCC with all vehicle operators while monitoring adjustments where necessary to maximize on-time performance and minimize service disruptions because of vehicle/vehicle operator availability and/or emergency situations. Window Dispatchers/Starters will assign vehicles, considering preventative maintenance schedules and capacity needs, to ensure on-time performance and maintain system productivity. Window dispatchers/Starters will assign extra board operators as needed to meet on-time gate out requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Vehicle operators shift and scheduling adjustments.

  • Effective use of spare vehicles to ensure vehicle availability for the preventative maintenance program.

  • On-time gate performance, productivity, and service

  • Pull-outs per schedule.

  • Effective communication with MOCC.

  • Accurate and consistent documentation of daily items including operator

attendance, passenger and scheduling issues, vehicle problems, emergency

situations and other daily events or disruptions.

  • Checking operators in for shift (credentials)

  • Reconciliation of trip manifests and fares collected by vehicle operators.

  • Collection of lost and found articles and compliance with lost and found

program requirements.

  • Maintenance of a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the

opportunity for injury to self or other employees.

  • Communicating the daily safety message to operators and communicating

effectively in support of operations.

  • Daily equipment inventory.

  • Review of post trip inspections and communication of potential problems to

maintenance staff.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent. and a minimum of three years of successful dispatcher experience or three years of administrative experience in a transit dispatch environment.

  • Data entry experience and a general knowledge of windows-based computer operating systems and MS Office Suite

  • Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.

  • Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possesses good judgment and discretion.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written a must.

  • Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.

  • Proven customer service and interpersonal skills a must.

  • Must be able to work as a member of the team.

  • Ability to interact professionally on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.

  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.

  • 100% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift or handle up to 25 pounds.

  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations and noise.
