The Safety Manager shall have sufficient skills to support, administer and monitor the Contractor’s new driver training program. The Safety and Training Manager will ensure that all operators have the appropriate licenses, medical cards and any other certification required to operate a vehicle in passenger service.This operation has over 100 vehicles.
This is for proposed business and all offers are contingent upon Transdev's award of the contract.
Maintains adequate staffing levels.
Ensures that staff is adequately trained and understands and executes on safety and security standards.
Ensures compliance with all company, client, and Department of Transportation regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ensures that all reporting and risk management tools are up-to-date and correct at all times.
Ensures contract compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations; ensures that related record keeping and reporting requirements are met and maintained; provides support in implementing the approved recommendations.
Selects, hires, and trains qualified candidates for employment.
Responsible for the oversight of the Drug and Alcohol program.
Maintains confidentiality of all information.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.
BA/BS in transportation or logistics preferred.
National Safety Council Defensive Driving Instructor certification or equivalent preferred.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required:
At least 3 years of experience supervising or training paratransit drivers.
Familiarity with OSHA, EPA standards, NIMS and ADA requirements.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of DOT (Department of Transportation), FTA (Federal Transit Administration), FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) rules and regulations.
Ability to interpret and explain regulations to others.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills.
Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings.
Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check.
Must pass DOT physical examination.
Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
90% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
