The Assistant Controller role requires a highly efficient, detail oriented, proactive individual. The Regional Controller works closely with location General Managers and their Regional Vice President of Operations to provide monthly financial statements, forecasts and budgets along with analyzing profitability, controls and supporting the location within their portfolio. This role manages the financial and administrative activities at the assigned properties to assure compliance with corporate policy and procedure.
Provide status of financial performance of the company’s operations through collection, reporting and interpretation of key financial data.
Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget process and assist the General Manager in the preparation of zero-base budgets and forecasts.
Prepare or assist in the creation of financial projections used to make strategic and tactical decisions designed to improve financial results.
Prepares and coordinates monthly closing and other reporting requirements.
Involved in Pricing for new business targets as well as defensive bids.
Assist the RVP and General Manager in analysis of operational data (KPIs).
Monitors and drives Action plan to support locations Financial and Operational performance.
Ensure adherence to state and local tax regulations.
Ensures adherence and compliance with company policy and procedure while also providing counsel to the General Manager and on-site management team.
Report directly to Finance but has dotted line responsibility to Regional Vice President of Operations. Works closely with Regional Directors team.
Candidate must develop central understanding of the profitability drivers of the Organization
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent required.
CPA and/or MBA preferred. IFRS Experience is a plus.
Big 4 Accounting/Auditing Experience or Equivalent preferred.
2-5 years’ experience in FP&A and assessment of financial performance required.
Skills and Knowledge Required
Ability to analyze financial results and assist on-site management with development of action plans to maintain performance levels and profitability expectations.
Proficiency with standard computer programs. Knowledge of MS Dynamics and or Oracle/JD Edwards highly preferred.
Strong organizational and communication skills (both oral and written).
Ability to work efficiently and accurately with little direct supervision.
Detail oriented and results driven.
Ability to solve problems in a practical and pragmatic manner.
Travel requirement outside of immediate area : 25-50%
