Position Overview

Transdev Rail, LLC is seeking a professional Project Accountant to join our team in Hialeah, Florida. The Project Accountant is responsible for the accurate monthly costing and accounting of project related financial data, as well as understanding all financial aspects of a project while working together with the project team to ensure maximum profit with minimum risk. This includes, but is not limited to cost reporting and analysis, contract and policy compliance and project status report submission. This position is also responsible for initiating, proofing, reconciling and reporting client billing to the Controller for input in JD Edwards and handling all AP. This position does not have any direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, analyze, interpret and provide internal distribution of financial information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability and performance against budget.

  • Work closely with General Manager and Assistant General Manager in preparing client billing for work performed.

  • Prepare invoice package for all billable projects, including all applicable backup for approval by the GM/AGM. Designated projects require certified payrolls.

  • Verify and reconcile accurate project costs and revenue.

  • Follow up on aged receivables and ensure timely collection of all billings.

  • Verify Insurance coverage for subcontractors.

  • Setup new vendors.

  • Review, code and process accounts payable invoices.

  • Month-end closing process

  • Assist the project management team with of all aspects of project accounting from contract award through project completion.

  • Analyze project actual, committed and planned costs on a very detailed basis to determine remaining costs to complete.

  • Assist the GM/AGM/Controller in the identification and assessment of financial risks.

  • Lead the planning, coordinating and administering of cost tracking and client billing processes onsite. This may include day-to-day direction of onsite staff in record keeping, purchasing, inventory, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (strongly preferred)

  • Associates Degree (at a minimum is required)

  • Minimum five plus years in general accounting processes

  • Prior accounts payable and invoicing experience

  • Rail Accounting experience is a plus

  • Experience with JDE is a plus

  • Must have a positive and can-do attitude

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Requires maintaining a high level of confidentiality

  • Ability to prioritize and deliver in a deadline-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light lifting (30lbs) associated with working in routine office environment.
