Transdev Maintenance Manager in Panama City, Florida

The Maintenance Manager oversees the daily operations of mechanics, bus washers, utility workers, and administrative staff. Maintenance facilities typically run on a three-shift basis to ensure equipment maintenance, quality testing and inspections, and adherence to DOT, client, or company standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise repairs, preventive maintenance, servicing, and cleaning of the fleet.

  • Manage support services including heavy overhauls, light unit rebuilds, electronic and body repairs.

  • Responsible for ordering parts and maintaining inventory levels.

  • Supervise maintenance personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, promotions, discipline, and terminations.

  • Monitor technician performance and initiate appropriate disciplinary actions per company/location policies.

  • Ensure all mechanics possess the required licenses and certifications.

  • Oversee major repairs and provide technical assistance to mechanics.

  • Manage technicians' workload, develop work orders, and evaluate repairs performed by technicians and external vendors.

  • Monitor radio communications during routes and promptly respond to operator inquiries regarding vehicle mechanical issues.

  • Advise the General Manager on situations requiring further attention.

  • Manage vehicle titles, registration, Vehicle Change Notices, and annual registration fees.

  • Ensure DOT compliance and inspections of revenue and service equipment.

  • Perform other duties to ensure efficient maintenance facility operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of management and maintenance experience, including diesel and gas mechanic experience. Experience managing employees across multiple shifts is required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, logistics, or related field is preferred.

  • Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to transportation vehicles, including transmissions, engines, brakes, climate control units, wheelchairs, and ancillary electronics.

  • ASE certifications and CDL are required.

  • Strong organizational, labor relations, and basic math skills for tracking trends and report writing.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work amid constant interruptions, prioritize tasks, handle time pressures, and communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Proficiency in Word, spreadsheets, and RTA fleet management experience.

  • Ability to perform complex technical and administrative work overseeing the maintenance program per company and client standards.

  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and effective time management skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations.

  • Team player able to work well with diverse internal and external customers.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination, including a drug test.

Physical Demands:

  • 10% of work is accomplished indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.

  • 90% of work is accomplished in an open garage facility.

  • Requires considerable use of arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas, dust, vehicle fumes, noise, chemicals, oils, greases, or other irritants.

  • Ability to access any area of equipment or vehicles to perform necessary maintenance.

  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.

  • Ability to travel for company training, meetings, or support missions.
